Social responsibility

We attach great importance to ethical behavior, both within the company and towards society. We have a great social responsibility, which we try to fulfill in many different ways. Be it to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees or through social commitment.

Whether on construction sites or in road traffic, we ensure safe working and arrival with our products and training courses.

With our specially designed training courses, we provide external interested parties with the necessary knowledge to be able to move safely in everyday working life.

This in the areas of:

  • occupational safety
  • traffic safety
  • Road construction and civil engineering

Safety on construction sites

In order to make cities and communities more sustainable, appropriate construction measures are often required. To make construction sites safer, both for the workers on site and for passers-by, the wide range of Schake products in this area guarantee precisely this safety.

Road safety

As part of "Vision Zero", the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) has set itself the goal of reducing the number of road deaths by 40 percent by 2030. The number of serious injuries in traffic accidents is also to be significantly reduced. Schake products from the traffic safety sector contribute to this goal and ensure greater safety on the roads for everyone involved.

For us, this is not just an empty phrase. The aim should be to create an inclusive society in which all people can lead a self-determined life.

Accessibility in everyday life is an important step towards this.

We are aware of the challenges and obstacles that people with disabilities or limited mobility face every day. That is why we have developed products such as our wheelchair ramp specifically for this situation.

It is often difficult for blind people in particular to recognize the many construction sites in urban areas at an early stage.

For this reason, we have developed a special blind protection strip for our barriers.

To ensure an even higher level of safety, we have also developed an acoustic warning system.

Here you will find our product range for a barrier-free construction site.

Watering can hero:inside Hagen

Hagen is considered the "greenest city in North Rhine-Westphalia", with around 42 percent of the city's total area covered by woodland. Against the backdrop of climate change, with long periods of heat and drought, the trees make an essential contribution to a pleasant climate in the city and create quality of life for the local population.

To maintain the city trees, especially in the hot and dry summer months, it is important to water them regularly. The "watering can heroes" have dedicated themselves to this important task.

The campaign already exists in several NRW cities and has now also been launched in Hagen. The whole thing is a cooperation between the city of Hagen and the local volunteer center and follows the principle:

Collect water when it rains and use it to water trees when it is too dry.

Our company and its employees are firmly rooted in the region. It was therefore very important to us to make our contribution to a good urban climate. With our donation of six water tanks including watering cans, we ensure that our local "watering can heroes" are provided with the necessary tools.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the time had come and the first "rain rescuer tank" was ceremoniously handed over in the garden of the Wohlbehagen nursing home in Lukaspark in Hagen,

where it is now connected to the rainwater pipe and collects valuable rainwater, which the residents of the care home can use to water the greenery around their home.

The head of the environmental department of the city of Hagen, Mr. Köhler, his deputy, Mr. Gockel, and the head of the volunteer center, Ms. Krause, were also present.

We are always keen to generate added value for people and society in addition to our actual business activities. In the following, we would like to provide an insight into the projects we have recently supported.

WASSERVISION - Water is life

Water is the world's most important resource. Whether as drinking water, for food production or for the production of industrial goods. We cannot do without it. Creating knowledge and sensitizing people is essential in order to meet the current and future challenges surrounding water. This is especially true in light of the changes that climate change is bringing, such as floods and droughts, as well as the increasing contamination of our water.

In order to make young people aware of the relevance of water and show them holistic ways in which we as a society can help to protect this precious resource, we made a financial contribution to enable 600 pupils at the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Hagen to gain important and exciting insights into the topic of water as part of an educational project in November 2024.

Our Sustainability Officer Daniel Gutmann was on site to answer questions and explain the challenges and requirements associated with water issues from a corporate perspective.
